Descripción: Applications are invited for a Software Engineer position at the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC-CSIC) in Barcelona. The candidate will join a group with a large experience in developing control software for the operation and control of astronomical instrumentation. The successful candidate will work on the implementation of the control software for the first large-size telescope (LST) of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) observatory (www.cta-observatory.org) and for other ground-based telescopes and space missions.
The candidate should have good background and experience in programming in Python and Java programming languages. Knowledge over CORBA technology and virtualization is also desired.
He/she should have experience in developing under Linux and with the software engineering process , covering the classic development life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, documentation and testing.
Knowledge of basic positional astronomy and astronomical instrumentation will be valued.
